Create an alias name for a server (or workstation). Useful if you install a new server to take the place of the old server. So users can find "old" server, use alias name set to oldname.:

Hive: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
Key: SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanServer\Parameters
Name: OptionalNames
Type: REG_SZ
Value: "aliasyouwant"
If you make it a type REG_MULTI_SZ, you can add multiple alsiases.
