NT 4.0 ships with a Hardware Query Tool that can report on the hardware found by NT on the PC. The program is found in the \support\hqtool directory on the NT workstation CD. Run makedisk.bat and a bootable diskette with the tool enabled will be created. The biggest problem with the tool is that it does not report on multiple CPUs. Otherwise, hqtool does a good job of hardware detection. Unfortunately the HCL incorporated in the tool is dated from August 1996 and Microsoft has not updated the tool making the valuable only if you have old hardware.
